Yesterday I went for a walk at the Outwood windmill with a friend. There is a well known circular walk to see the bluebells here, it had been busy with visitors for the past two weeks so we waited until now.
Above is a 2 minute video of the bluebells.
Amongst the bluebells were wood anemone and the walk across fields to get there was equally beautiful as the rapeseed fields are in full bloom. Some folk are allergic too this (hubby) but luckily not me!
We have watched Care on Netflix (Sheridan Smith stars), the story of a woman whose mother is taken into care and their journey as a family. It was very good. Currently now watching Diplomat on Netflix. Also very good.
My current book is this one - just about to start reading. What are you reading at the moment?
If you have time to watch my video on Youtube, I hope you will enjoy a glimpse of the bluebell woods. These are ancient woodland. Did you know if you step on a bluebell it takes 5 years to fully recover? They are so precious, being replaced in some areas by Spanish bluebell and in others being lost by building and development. Our woods are protected and treasured, we are lucky.

I've never seen a bluebell woods -- how marvelous they are! But here on the prairies we are surrounded by canola (rapeseed) fields so I've seen plenty of those in flower! Right now I'm reading Yann Martel's new novel, "Son of Nobody." It's very good, if you like the myth of the Trojan War.
ReplyDeleteYou've captured those bluebells beautifully, you can really see the blue haze! Our garden's full of them, they smell lovely, don't they?
ReplyDeleteI bet that Sajid Javid book's interesting. I expect you've read Anita and Me, based on Meera Syall's experiences growing up in Walsall. She went to my school and I used to hang out with her brother! xxx
So lovely. I have been in woods like yours and the blue-ness is stunning. So sad when vandals destroy them.
ReplyDeleteMy Bluebells aren't up yet, another month or so. Currently reading Raising Hare, so good.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, bluebells! I don't think they grow over here.
ReplyDeleteGosh Betty your photos are stunning. I am going to make a cup of tea & watch your video. I love Sheridan Smith so I will hunt out that movie on Netflix. I have just watched Reign Over Me - starring Adam Sandler - I think you would enjoy it, very good movie. xx
ReplyDeleteI love bluebells, and spring flowers in general, although the May blossom is wreaking havoc with my allergies this year! I didn’t know they took so long to recover from damage. So delicate. Xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my last place of employment! They had their own bluebell wood!! Been watching Trust Me The False Prophet on Netflix. Those poor women and girls. Was supposed to go see Sheridan Smith in Funny Girl in Edinburgh but she cancelled! She was brilliant as Cilla!xxx
ReplyDeleteDear Betty!

Bluebells are pretty little blooms ♥️
The fields full of yellow flowers are so beautiful wow
I so agree that having your landscape preserved and unspoiled by builders is blessing.
Sending love and best wishes to you and your family 🙏♥️
